I think you're reading a little too much into this.

Goodbye Emily, Have fun with the undead
~ It is women who love horror. Gloat over it. Feed on it. Are nourished by it. Shudder and cling and cry out-and come back for more. ~

I've really enjoyed your interaction with the community, and I'm sad to see you go, in a selfish kind of way. All the best wishes on your new job.

Abandon ship, I guess.
We'll miss you, Emily. I don't think anyone can replace you (especially with all the work you did for the wikis), and I have a feeling we're about to lose a lot of support.

Off topic for a sec, but this is the first time I learn about Undead labs and such.
Then I read this:
Quote:
In April 2000 Strain founded ArenaNet with fellow Blizzard leads Mike O’Brien and Patrick Wyatt. He served as programmer and executive producer for the popular MMO franchise Guild Wars, which has sold more than six million units. Korean MMO publisher NCsoft acquired ArenaNet in 2002, and in 2008 Strain was promoted to president of product development for the company’s Western operations, where he spent a year wearing button-down shirts and dark socks before returning to his development roots with the formation of Undead Labs.
|
So they quit Blizzard to start A.Net, but then let the conditions that made them quit in the first place happen to A.Net, so they leave and start it off again ?
Are they going to leave Undead Labs if their game is successful ?
Does this mean anything about GW 2, or am I just paranoid ?
Oh, and good luck Emily.

Zombie games suck... frankly I can't stand anything with a prominent undead theme.

Boys and girls, this is actually a no-brainer (I stole the pun from JR).
Everybody who knows Emily personal knows that the lure of the Walking Dead is strong for her. Working on a zombie game is a dream come true. (pretty sure she will say something herself later),
So while we are sad that she is leaving us, we wish her all the brains she can get in her new job.
And no, there is no hidden conspiracy.

I think almost everyone is.
Pretty much everyone has their dream they want to work on, where if the opportunity came up, they'd drop everything to do it. There doesn't have to be any sort of ulterior motive to it.
Anyway, good luck, Emily

Anet is not Anet anymore but simply NcSoft/NcWest with a different hat.
Undead labs is/will be what Anet was when they were making GW
It is a sad fact but Aet became so successful their "parent" swallowed them, left them with the Anet moniker but the soul of what Anet was, was swallowed too
@ MK yes indeed it is a no-brainer, there is NO a-net in anything other than a title, you are NcSoft/NcWest and with this in mind I hope that GW2 is not going to become the debacle that is Aion, in other words, a game that should be the "next stage" of MMO but becomes a complete farce with poor Customer relations, bad planning & implementation, flawed design and the overall poor handling that NcSoft/NcWest have become synonomous with.
Aion = flawed gem for all the reasons stated above (which was evident from month 3 onwards)
GW2 = Hope I am not saying the same thing about it 3 months after release,
Unnamed Zombie Game = Keep an eye out!! if the REAL Anet is involved in this (albeit under a different name) then it may be one to watch out for

If it was based in typical fantasy world, I would indeed keep and eye, but unfortunatelly it's a zombie game and only for consoles. Meh.
